16/04/2007 - Raid Bleu Normandie - Right On Target

From the onset, the organizers of Raid Bleu Normandie had set an ambitious triple challenge for the first edition of Raid Bleu Normandie: first to attract an international array of F18 sailors, second to
select the very best among them, and third, to hold the event along the spectacular coastline of the Bessin and Cote de Nacre regions, thereby offering an exceptional opportunity for sensitizing the
general public to ecological issues and for supporting a sustainable development in the region.
Today, less than a month prior to the opening ceremony, operations are well under way towards achieving, and likely exceeding these objectives.

08/03/2007 - Raid Bleu Colors Grey Normandie Skies

Raid Bleu Normandie 3
Low clouds and strong winds were an ominous sign for the inaugural outing of F18’s that will participate in Raid Bleu Normandie. That didn’t prevent hard core sailors Thibaut Vauchel-Camus and Mathieu Marfaing from noticeably coloring the grey just off the Ouistreham Beaches. Painted with the distinct Raid Bleu colors, the blazing catamaran was like a colorful thunderbolt slicing across the grey background of the Channel. The skipper mustered all his expertise, duly justifying his two French national championship titles. Several Press photographers avidly followed the exhibit, and the volunteers of the Caen Ouistreham Regatta Company (SRCO), in charge of water safety, had an equal opportunity for practice runs.
